After reading Karen's book, and using some of her tips on the USPTO.gov website, I know this book is going to save me money in attorney's fees! It will definitely enable me to go into the attorney's office with some basic knowledge, and avoid some of the charges for time normally spent for the attorney to explain the processes. I have been through the trademark process with attorneys. The Patent process seems a lot more complicated. This is not a quick read, nor is it a comprehensive guide. U.S. Patent Tools is more of a reference source which I expect to use repeatedly. I followed the author's advice to open the website while reading, and was able to follow along with her narratives to navigate within the USPTO website. I learned several things that are already worth WAY more than the cost of this book! If you want help to better understand the patent process, and to be able to monitor your patent process, the cost of this book is a small price to pay for some help.Product details

This book helped me navigating USPTO website and explained how to use information there. It shows how to look for patents and applications and there were lots of screenshots to keep me on the right track. I would recommend this book to anyone who filed for a patent or wants to find out about the status of applications.
This book is very well organized to help you find information on patent applications and granted patents.
You will get a guided tour with explanations on how to use the website for the USPTO (US Patent & Trademark Office), You will know how to search for patents and patent applications. Add to that plenty of clear screen captures so that you will know what you are looking at on the site.
You are also given example forms that have been annotated to explain where to find specific information. I recommend this book to anyone that needs to use the USPTO as you will be a pro in no time at all.
This book was a huge help in figuring out what I need to do in order to patent my product! Before I read this book, I had no idea where to start the process. I was also not aware of all of the help that is available online; the author gave specific web sites addresses so that I could locate and use that (free)help. I found out that I can do many of the things that I would probably have payed an attorney for. Even though I will still hire some legal help, having a better idea of what is entailed in getting a patent was very valuable information. The author provided excellent step-by-step instructions to get from point A to wherever I needed to get to. I am a visual learner, so the large number of screen shots in the book was very valuable to me. This book provided me with what I was looking for and much more!
